Police have not made any arrests in connection with the death of a 65-year-old man who was found severely injured in his home in AA. Maalhos in the early hours of Sunday.

The victim, Abdul Rahman Adam, sustained head injuries while he was asleep. He died at the Maalhos Health Centre while undergoing treatment shortly after the incident.

A police official confirmed to Atoll Times on Monday that the investigation is ongoing. Officers from Malé and nearby islands have been deployed to support the investigation. Entry and exit from Maalhos are currently being monitored as part of the inquiry.

According to police, Abdul Rahman was struck three times on the head with an iron object. His wife was present in the house at the time but was asleep in a separate room.

So far, no suspects have been taken into custody.

Abdul Rahman was a fisherman by trade. Residents of Maalhos expressed confusion over the motive behind the attack. Some mentioned longstanding suspicions related to black magic, though community views on the matter appeared divided.

The incident has led to concern and tension within the island community. Authorities have not disclosed further details and are continuing efforts to identify those responsible.
