Three men arrested in connection with the killing of Abdul Rahman in AA. Maalhos have been formally charged, the Prosecutor General’s Office said on Wednesday.

Abdul Rahman died on 13 July while receiving treatment at the island’s hospital. He sustained severe injuries to his head and face after being attacked while sleeping in his home.

Police arrested three suspects on 21 August, one month after the incident.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said charges were filed at the Criminal Court on Tuesday. The defendants and the charges are as follows:

  • Ahmed Aashid, Fiya/Maalhos – charged with intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon

  • Mohamed Wisam, Lily Fehi/Maalhos – charged with participation in intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon

  • Ahmed Faris, Finivaage/Maalhos – charged with participation in intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon

The case will proceed in the Criminal Court.
