The Maldives Police Service has restricted parking in several areas of Malé in connection with preparations for the country’s Independence Day celebrations. The restrictions include the Green Zone and surrounding areas.
Authorities have directed the removal of all vehicles currently parked in the restricted zones before 6 p.m. Thursday. The police stated that any remaining vehicles after the deadline will be towed as per regulations.
According to a chart published by the police, the restricted areas include:

The Green Zone from Jumhooree Maidhaan to the President’s Office

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The decision is part of logistical and security arrangements ahead of the events marking the 60th anniversary of the Maldives’ independence, which was gained from British protection on 26 July 1965.
