Nasheed appoints Abdulla Waheed as campaign spokesperson
Waheed currently serves as President of the Dhidhdhoo constituency in the party’s National Council and previously represented the constituency in parliament.
Mohamed Nasheed has appointed Abdulla Waheed as spokesperson for his campaign in the chairperson election of the Maldivian Democratic Party.
Nasheed announced the appointment in a post on X.
“I am pleased to announce that Abdulla Waheed, the MDP Dhidhdhoo constituency President and former MP, has been appointed as the spokesperson for my MDP Chairperson election campaign,” Nasheed said.
Waheed currently serves as President of the Dhidhdhoo constituency in the party’s National Council and previously represented the constituency in parliament.
The MDP chairperson election is scheduled to take place in June. Other candidates in the race include Meekail Ahmed Naseem, Member of Parliament for Galolhu South, and Mohamed Waheed.
Following the publication of the voter list, election date and timeline, Nasheed’s team filed a case at the Civil Court of Maldives seeking to invalidate the timeline.
The filing argues that the timeline was issued in violation of the party’s statutes.
