The government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a National News Agency aimed at providing free access to news and information for the media.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Youth Participation, Information and Arts, Ibrahim Waheed, on behalf of the government, and by Ibrahim Nasreen, Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM), on behalf of the state media company.
According to a statement published on the ministry’s website, the agency will distribute news and information to registered media outlets via a digital platform.
The ministry stated that the service will offer access to news articles, photographs, videos, and other related content. The platform will be developed and operated with the involvement of the Ministry of Youth Participation, Information and Arts.
The statement further noted that the service will be provided free of charge to all registrants.
