The body of Moosa Ibrahim, who was stabbed to death in L. Maavah on 28 July, has been brought back to Maldives after an autopsy in India.
After remaining in the morgue for approximately 10 days, police confirmed on Thursday that the body had been sent abroad for autopsy.
"Moosa Ibrahim's body has been brought to Male after an autopsy," police said in a message on Saturday.
Moosa, 29, sustained fatal injuries during an altercation in Maavah and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Maavah Hospital.
Mohamed Ibrahim, 29, from Asri Manzil in HDh. Nolhivaranfaru, surrendered to the police on the same day. Authorities recovered the knife believed to have been used in the incident from the sea.
While police stated that an autopsy is required for further analysis, Moosa’s family has opposed the procedure, citing that the suspect has already surrendered to law enforcement.
