Asma declares no property ownership in financial statement

Maafannu Central MP Asma Rasheed has declared no property or house in her financial statement made public by Parliament on Monday.
According to her financial statement, Asma reported an annual income of MVR 973,830 from salary. She also recorded MVR 1.1 million in income from company and partnership shares.
However, her declaration shows no assets under privately owned or privatised company or partnership shares.
The report lists:

MVR 81,152.50 in her Bank of Ceylon Malé branch account

No loans in her own name

MVR 64,621 outstanding on a BML rupee credit card

USD 9,395 outstanding on a BML dollar credit card
The statement confirms that Asma does not own any land, building, flat or house in her name either in the Maldives or abroad.
She sold a plot in M. Kothanmaage in December last year for MVR 19 million.
The Star Cloud building on Majeedhee Magu near the Youth Centre, which houses BML’s dollar ATMs and several government offices, is listed as belonging to her family.
