Thilamale bridge crane collapses
Recently, a platform used for the construction of the Thilamale Bridge ran aground on Villimale reef.
A crane used to construct the Greater Male Connectivity Bridge (GMCP) collapsed on Monday.
According to an official at the bridge office, the incident took place Monday afternoon when a crane used to install the pillars of the bridge at Villimale end fell into the sea. The crane because its boomer failed, he said.
"The crane fell while lifting a pillar," the official said.
He assured that no one was injured in the incident.
Recently, a platform used for the construction of the Thilamale Bridge ran aground on Villimale reef. The Indian contractor, Afcons has been fined MVR 68 million.
