President Mohamed Muizzu said on Saturday that land reclamation work for Hulhumalé Phase 3 has been completed.

He made the announcement while speaking at a campaign event organised for People’s National Congress (PNC) candidates contesting the upcoming local council elections.

The President said the dredging work and the handover of land allocated during the previous administration were continuing according to schedule.

He said the dredging for Hulhumalé Phase 3 has been completed and that the process of handing over the reclaimed land is under way.

“The dredging of Giraavaru Falhu is now ready to begin and two dredgers are positioned nearby,” he said.

He said land that had been allocated earlier was now being handed over as promised. He also said the handover of flats listed under previous schemes was nearing completion.

The President said further land reclamation would be required at Uthuru Thilafalhu to provide additional plots for residents of Malé.

He said dredging work at Rasmale is expected to be completed by April.

“When the dredging is completed, we will announce the provisional list,” he said.

According to the President, 63 hectares of land have been reclaimed for Hulhumalé Phase 3, from which 1,351 plots will be allocated.
