Two men have been arrested and remanded in custody in connection with the seizure of more than three kilograms of drugs during an operation carried out on Saturday.
The Maldives Police Service said on Sunday that the drugs were seized during a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department and the Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit.
Police said more than three kilograms of suspected drugs were recovered from two vessels during the operation.
Those arrested in connection with the case are Hanif, 36, a Bangladeshi national, and Azhad Naseem, 28, from Fiyaathoshivila in GA. Mamendhoo.
According to police, Hanif was remanded in custody for five days, while Azhad Naseem was remanded for 15 days.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, police said.
