Fire breaks out at fertiliser warehouse in Maafannu
A fire broke out at a warehouse storing chemicals and fertilisers in Maafannu on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred at the Prime Godown located at M. Kairge on Fulooniya Magu.
The warehouse is operated by Prime Fertilisers and is used to store chemicals and fertilisers, according to information obtained.
Police, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) fire and rescue service, and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) fire units attended the scene.
Authorities said the fire was brought under control after about two hours.
Firefighters continued operations at the site as some fire remained inside the warehouse.
The surrounding area was covered in smoke during the incident.
