President restores R. Gaaun’doodhoo to Hulhudhuffaaru’s jurisdiction
It was removed on 25 August 2021 through a presidential decree in 2021 to facilitate its use for industrial activities.
President Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday restored Gaaun’doodhoo to the jurisdiction of R. Hulhudhuffaaru, fulfilling a presidential pledge.
The decision was formalised through a presidential decree, issued pursuant to the authority granted to the president under the Decentralisation Act, which provides for the determination and designation of the jurisdictions of city and island councils.
In accordance with the decree, a revised chart reflecting Hulhudhuffaaru’s updated administrative jurisdiction has been published in the Government Gazette.
Gaaun’doodhoo was previously included within Hulhudhuffaaru’s jurisdiction under a presidential decree in 2020. It was removed on 25 August 2021 through a presidential decree in 2021 to facilitate its use for industrial activities overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture.
