A Maldivian national who was taken into police custody following a disturbance on a Batik Air flight arriving in the Maldives has been released, police said.

A police media official said the individual was released on Friday without being presented before a judge for a remand hearing.
“The individual was released from police custody after consideration of his medical condition. The investigation is ongoing,” the official said in response to queries.
Police did not disclose further details of the incident.
Claims have circulated on social media that the individual is a diplomat. Police did not confirm this, and the identity of the individual has not been released.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued a comment on the matter.
