IUM academic conference to begin on September 17

IUM aims to build a community that loves acquiring and sharing knowledge through these conferences.

Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has announced that this year's International Conference on Intellectual Advancement (ICIA) will be held from September 17-18. 

This is the seventh consecutive year IUM has held the event, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held last year in hybrid mode; some meeting physically and the rest virtually. 

With the aim of building a community that loves acquiring and sharing knowledge, the research papers that will be presented at the conference will be focused on four main themes:

  • Social sciences, humanities and education

  • Quranic studies, sharia and law

  • Tourism, environment and technology

  • Management, business, economy, accounting, finance and banking

IUM added that research papers on various fields regarding COVID-19 will also be presented.

Keynote speakers at this year's conference are:

  • Former President of Islamic University of Malaysia and current Chairman of The Sharee'ah Advisory Council of The Central Bank of Malaysia, Professor Dr. Mohamed Dawood Bakr 

  • Professor Dr Daoud Abdul Malik, founder and former President of the University of Science and Technology, Sanaa, Yemen. 

  • Professor Dr Mohamed Zia-ul-Haq, Director General of Islamic Research Institute at International Islamic University of Pakistan. 

IUM said that this will be one of the largest international research conferences to be held in the Maldives so far.
