The Fuvamulah City Council has launched a mobile application to provide information on services and matters related to the island. The council stated that this is the first application introduced by a local authority in the Maldives.

The application, named ‘AfunCity’, provides access to information across multiple sectors. It includes a map covering the island, access to CCTV camera feeds, and a feature for submitting complaints.

Available on iOS and Android platforms, the application’s main feature is the Fuvamulah map. The interactive map displays 3,700 locations, including residences, businesses, mosques and public services. It supports location tracking and navigation.

The application also provides information on ferry travel between Fuvamulah and Malé, including vessel location and travel conditions. Users can access news, activities and job listings related to the island.

Live CCTV feeds from various areas of the island are accessible through the application. It also includes prayer times, Friday schedules, mosque information, and directions to the nearest mosque. Air quality data is available through the ‘IQ Air’ feature.

Council announcements, decisions, financial reports and audit reports are also published on the application. The council stated that this would support transparency and public access to information.

The council added that the application is part of efforts to develop a smart city model in the Maldives.
