Police retirees with 25 years of service to receive medical cover

The Commissioner said the current administration has prioritised strengthening the police service and creating new opportunities for its personnel.

Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed has announced that the government will revise the limits used to calculate retirement allowances and benefits for police officers.

Speaking at the ceremony marking the 93rd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service on Sunday night, Ahmed said the changes would apply to officers retiring with honour.

He also announced that officers who retire after completing 25 years of service will receive medical care under the same policy provided to serving police officers.

The Commissioner said the current administration has prioritised strengthening the police service and creating new opportunities for its personnel.

He said the government continues to introduce measures requested by the police to improve institutional management and service delivery.

Ahmed added that the police service remains committed to carrying out its duties in a manner that maintains public trust and confidence.

During the ceremony, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu presented presidential ribbons and medals to 27 police officers in recognition of their service.
