The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast rain across much of the country over the next two days as the Southwest Monsoon strengthens over the Maldives.
The Met Office said on Monday that conditions are becoming favourable for the formation of rain clouds across the region.
Rain is expected over a large part of the country during the next two days, with some islands likely to experience periods of heavy rainfall.
The Met Office advised the public to monitor weather updates and take precautions during periods of rain and changing sea conditions.
Rainfall figures released by the Met Office show that Hulhumalé recorded the highest rainfall during the 24 hours from 8:00am on Sunday to 8:00am on Monday.
Hulhumalé received 23.5 millimetres of rainfall during the period.
Hulhulé and K. Gaafaru each recorded 16.5 millimetres of rain.
The Met Office said it would continue to monitor the monsoon and provide updates as weather conditions develop.
