MDP wins Dhuvaafaru by-election

A total of 3,412 voters were eligible to cast their votes. A total of 1,489 voters exercised their rights.

Ruling MDP on Saturday won the Dhuvaafaru council by-election by a margin of 68 votes.

In this by-election, two rival parties, MDP, PPM and independent candidates are in the fray. The Elections Commission (EC) has already declared the temporary results.

As per the EC results:

  • MDP candidate Abdulla Nazim (Fitte) Jazeera/R. Kandholhudhoo - 612 votes

  • PPM candidate Fathimath Ali, Asareege/ R. Kandholhudhoo - 544 votes

  • Ahmed Hussain, Rihithalhaage/ Kandholhudhoo, who contested as an independent candidate, - 298 votes

A total of 3,412 voters were eligible to cast their votes. A total of 1,489 voters exercised their rights.
