9 million needed to renovate mosques in Male: Muizzu
The council said people can donate money to the event through online cash transfers and payment portal on the council's website.

Male mayor Dr Mohamed Muizzu said on Friday that MVR 9 million is needed to renovate mosques in the city.
Speaking at the launch of the council's event to raise funds for the renovation of mosques in Male for the upcoming month of Ramadan, Muizzu said that there are 28 mosques maintained by the council in the Male.
Muizzu said that at the beginning of the current council's term, work worth MVR 14 million was required for the renovation and rehabilitation of Male mosques. Out of this, work worth MVR 4 million has been done from the council's budget and otherwise and work worth MVR 9 million is still pending, he said.

The mayor said that the council's philosophy is to make mosques in the city the most beautiful places in Male. He said the council was doing so with MVR 1 million from the government budget in addition to the revenue generated by the council. Muizzu said 1 million was not enough for the maintenance and renovation of mosques.

Without physically participating in the event, it is still possible to donate funds for the renovation of mosques. The council said people can donate money to the event through online cash transfers and payment portal on the council's website.
