2 drug-filled suitcases missing from airport; no surveillance camera in major spots

Police have launched an investigation into the disappearance of two suitcases containing a large quantity of drugs smuggled by air from Velana International Airport (VIA).
As per Atoll Times sources, the first luggage went missing on 8 January. While investigating the matter, another case went missing on Monday.
A police source confirmed Atoll Times that even if the Customs arrested them and handed them over to the police, both the luggage were untraceable.
Further investigation into the disappearance of two suitcases containing a large quantity of drugs from VIA has revealed that there are no cameras at some important locations at the country's main airport.

"When he arrived, he brought an additional 30 kg of luggage and informed the police that he did not know who had taken it," a police message read.
"So far, we are yet to identify the luggage from footage from Velana International Airport. It has been observed that there are no CCTV cameras at some important points of the airport."
Though the accused Pakistani has been released, the police said they are looking into the matter.
MACL, which runs VIA, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
