President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Hulhumale on Friday to inspect the flats being constructed by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC).

During his visit, the president visited a model apartment and inspected the completed apartment.

The flats built by FDC in Hulhumale are two housing projects funded by a loan from Exim Bank of India and handed over to two companies in the country.

Under the $226 million (MVR 3.5 billion) loan agreement signed with Exim Bank of India in 2021, the two companies were given two different deadlines to complete 4,000 housing units in Hulhumale Phase II. However, both the deadlines will expire in 2024.

The construction of the flats will be carried out by NBCC and JMC Projects of the Government of India.

Under these projects:

  • Each company will build 2,000 units

  • These include 1,200 two-bedroom and 2,800 three-bedroom apartments

  • The size of a two-bedroom apartment is 650 square feet, a three-bedroom apartment is 900 sqft
