Six people have been arrested in Bangladesh for allegedly using fake immigration stamps on passports while travelling to other countries. Among the fake stamps was the Maldivian immigration stamp too.
According to Bangladeshi media, the arrests were made following a complaint filed by the US Embassy in Dhaka for allegedly using fake stamps. When the Cyber and Special Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police investigated the case:

Fake passports recovered from them

Passports submitted to some visa-issuing agencies have fake stamps of having traveled to the Maldives, Malaysia and Cambodia

This is done because frequent travelers are given priority when grantiing visas
As per the police's knowledge from the arrested persons:

They charged 1-1.5 million Takas (about $10,000) from a person to make fakes

Dhaka police estimate that the amount of money collected from people could be as high as $100,000

The police are also trying to nab the others accused in the case
