Four candidates have filed their nominations for the ruling MDP's primary to elect the party's candidate for the upcoming by-election for the vacant Guraidhoo constituency seat in parliament.
Guraidhoo seat fell vacant after Ibrahim Riza, who held the post for the last three terms, passed away late last month while undergoing treatment for cancer. With this, the Election Commission has decided to hold by-elections for the constituency on April 15.
MDP opened its nomination papers for the primary in the constituency on Monday. The last date to apply ended at 4 pm on Thursday.
