Ali Arif, a resident of Hulhudhoo in Addu, has arrived in Male on his own while the police have been searching for him.
Police had earlier said that Ali Arif, 46, Sunny Lodge/S. Hulhudhoo, was last reported seen by the family in December.
The family reported the matter to the police on February 16.
On Thursday, the police released Arif's photograph as a missing person and sought the help of the public.
The police tweeted on Friday night that they have now found him.
"Ali Arif has gotten back in touch with his family. He arrived in the city this evening. He is doing fine," police said.
A police source told Atoll Times that Arif had come to the capital on his own while the police were searching for him. However, the police did not say where he had come from.
The family had informed the police that Arif goes fishing for yellow fin tuna.
