Unauthorised fabric, paper ads banned in Hulhumale

HDC has formulated and publicised a new set of regulations for advertising in public places in Hulhumale, banning fabric and paper advertisements in the satellite town.
The regulations, which were gazetted by HDC on Wednesday, specify the procedures to be followed while advertising in Hulhumale.
As per the rules, fabric and paper advertisements are prohibited in public areas in Hulhumale without the permission of the HDC. In other places as well, these specific types of advertisements will have to be done only after obtaining permission from the HDC.
A fine of up to MVR 2,000 will be imposed if a fabric or paper advertisement is put up anywhere in Hulhumale without the permission of the HDC.
An HDC spokesman told Atoll Times that the installation of clothe and paper advertisements leads to various problems. He said that many a times, such advertisements are kept unattended for a long time and dumped on the road even after removing them.
"HDC aims to address these issues by completely curbing the use of paper and fabric advertisements and make Hulhumale as clean as possible," the official said.
Advertising price is higher than ever before
The regulations also include the spaces and products sold by HDC for advertisements, as well as prices of various packages.

General principles

Candidates will have to submit their designs by e-mail to HDC three days prior to the date of advertisement

After advertising, the design can be changed only after taking permission from HDC

Advertisement can be removed before expiry only with permission from HDC

Advertisements will have to be removed within three days of expiry of the advertisement; if they fail to withdraw, they will be fined up to MVR 5,000
The application form for advertisement has been put up on the HDC website. The form has to be sent to the [email protected].
As per the regulations, the HDC will share information about the places where the advertisement is required within two days of sending the forms. According to the rules, the total amount of cost incurred for putting up the advertisement will have to be paid within five days of receiving the confirmation letter.
