President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih called on the public on Wednesday to devote more time this Ramadan to religious practices, be more attentive to performing the daily and the Tarawih prayers, and spend more time reciting from the Quran.
He made this appeal in his message to the nation at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday.
In his address, the president stated that Ramadan is a time to promote compassion, embrace the Islamic values of generosity and empathy, and devote more time to religious practices, including making dua.
He added that it was a time to rid ourselves of immoral deeds, rekindle familial and neighbourly bonds, and strive towards the righteous path.
The president emphasised that the most powerful spiritual lesson of the month is to revive our bond with God while promoting peace, kinship, and kindness in society. The president concluded his address by praying for the blessings and spiritual rewards of the holy month for the Islamic Ummah.
