Army vehicle honked to take unconscious child to ADK: MNDF
The child was taken to ADK Hospital within 15 minutes.
On the night of Eid, an MNDF vehicle, with all the four signals lit, was seen driving with horns blaring. By the time the Eid fireworks had ended at the Jumhooree Maizan area, the roads were congested. At that time, a car was trying to drive against the traffic on Ameer Ahmed road, causing inconvenience to some people.
One user took to Twitter along with a picture of the car and criticised it.
"It's the car of a senior MNDF officer and such high-ranking people forget about the public," the tweet read.
"Instead of disturbing the public in the future, travel with a police escort. Could somebody from MNDF tell him that next time?"
This was not what really happened. MNDF described what happened. According to the armed forces, the car was on its way to ADK Hospital carrying a child that had fallen unconscious and was racing for medical help.
"It was a time when there were a lot of people in the area, with high traffic too, so the driver of the vehicle first tried not to honk and tried to navigate through the crowds with all four signals," said Captain Hana Mohammed, MNDF’s information officer.
She said the vehicle was unable to move forward despite the flashing signals.
"As the child's condition worsened, we had to honk," Hana said.
The child was taken to ADK Hospital within 15 minutes.
Irresponsible posts on social media without looking at the truth of the matter have caused a lot of discontent and anger to various state agencies and people.
The tweet about the MNDF vehicle has now been removed.
