JSC appoints judges to High Court, Criminal Court

Three judges appointed by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to the High Court, Criminal Court and magistrate courts have taken oath of office on Thursday.
Supreme Court Justice Dr Mohamed Ibrahim administered the oath of office to the three judges, at a ceremony held at the JSC on Thursday.
The three judges are:

Mohamed Shaneez Abdulla appointed to the High Court

The decision to appoint Shaneez as a High cCourt judge was taken at a meeting of the JSC held on May 24.
Shaneez holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from the College of Islamic Studies and a Master of Shariah and Law (specialisation in Criminal Law) from Villa College. Shaneez, who has served in the judicial and legal profession for more than nine years, served as a lawyer and magistrate during that period. Before being appointed as a judge of the High Court, Shaneez was the Chief Magistrate of Gaddhoo Magistrate Court.
The decision to appoint Nuzuha as a judge of the Criminal Court was taken at a meeting of the JSC held on May 14.
Having served in the legal field for over seven years, Nuzuha holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law (with Honours) and Master of Law from the National University of Maldives. Prior to her appointment, she was a legal officer of the high court.
The decision to appoint Aishath Shihab as the Magistrate of Villingili magistrate court was taken at a meeting held on Sunday.
Aishath has a Bachelor's degree of Shariah and Law from the National University of Maldives. Earlier, she was the legal officer at the Villingili court.
