Concerns have been raised over the inclusion of organisations and sports clubs already active, in the list of organisations that the youth ministry has decided to disband.
The ministry has decided to dissolve organisations that have not submitted their annual reports for two consecutive years and have not registered their executive committees till this year.
The ministry announced two days ago that a member or interested third party will have until September 24 to submit written complaints over the list.
The public has been expressing concern as several of the associations are active.
Youth minister Ahmed Mahloof tweeted on Thursday that he had come to know of the list from newspapers. The list includes national sports associations and sports clubs that do not fall under the purview of the register of associations, he said.
"These have been requested to be looked into and fixed”, Mahloof said.
Some of the active organisations on the list are:
-
Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's The Maumoon Foundation
-
Maldivian Flyboard Association
-
Bodybuilding Federation of Maldives
-
Teenage Juniors
-
Teenage Sports Club
-
Skating Association
