Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) said on Sunday that the field work of the census has now been completed in all parts of the country and that the final report will be published on 20 October instead of releasing the preliminary findings.

MBS said in a statement that bureau employees are still collecting information on individuals and establishments who have not yet been identified.

To arrange for information collection, individuals are requested to:

  • call MBS hotline at 1423

  • call MBS general number at 3008400

  • fill an online form on the MBS website

MBS said that there are still 900 locations in the Male region that have not been reached.

MBS asked the public to locate houses and places of economic activities that have not yet been included in the census exercise. The bureau also asked supervisors at industrial islands to contact its officials.

The provisional findings of the census were initially scheduled for Thursday. However, MBS said the preliminary findings of the census will not be released.

"The bureau has decided to release the final results as scheduled on October 20, instead of releasing the preliminary findings separately," the statement read.
