Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj quit ruling MDP on Monday.

In a letter to party chairperson Fayyaz Ismail, Siraj requested him to be removed from the party register.

Siraj supported President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the January presidential primary of MDP. At the time, he was an MP supporting Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, who faced defeat in the presidential primary.

Even when he was in the party, there were rumours that he was planning to join The Democrats, which was led by Nasheed. However, it is not yet certain whether he left MDP to join the Democrats.
