A US company has been awarded a USD 249 million (MVR 3.8 billion) project to build 4,000 housing units in Male and other major population centres in Maldives.
Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) and Structures Unlimited LLC signed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement for the work on Thursday.
FDC Managing Director Salfiyya Anwar signed the agreement on behalf of the company. Structures Unlimited Chairman Kareem Jamal Abbas Abdul Salam signed on behalf of the company.
Housing units will be built in:

750 housing units in Male region
-
1,000 housing units in H.Dh. Kulhudhuffushi
-
1,000 housing units in L. Gan
-
500 housing units in G.Dh. Thinadhoo
-
750 housing units in Addu
The work was awarded to be completed within 36 months.
FDC has recently signed a major housing project with an Indian company as well.
According to Structures Unlimited LLC’s website, it is based in the state of Wisconsin. The company specialises in steel structures and fabric shelters for various purposes. There are also buildings for the military, agriculture and air transport sectors, the website says.
