President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the new government will facilitate everything the people of Male want for the development of the capital city.
As the outgoing mayor of Male, Muizzu met with council employees for the last time on Saturday evening.
Speaking at the meeting held at the Dharubaaruge, Muizzu said he had worked for two years and months to improve the situation in the city.
"We faced many challenges. If those challenges had not gone the way they did, things would have been more perfect in this city," Muizzu said.
"Of course the roads will be built. Of course, many parking multi-story buildings will be built and a big solution to the parking problem will be brought. Many such things will be completed”.
Such matters have not been decided in the past few days as Mayor because, according to Muizzu, the last permits were not given by those who should have given them.
“I want to tell the people of Male that hopefully in the government that starts on November 17, I will facilitate all these things and make the wishes of the people of Male a reality,” Muizzu said.
In addition, Muizzu said the next government will ensure that the people's elected councilors can serve the people in the true sense of the word through the decentralization system. He said the government will remove the difficulties in doing things for all the councils in the country.
“The people want the day-to-day running of the council, the necessary assistance should be given, the facilities should be provided and things should be carried out at a fast pace,” Muizzu said.
Muizzu concluded his speech by thanking all the councilors and employees of the Male City Council for their cooperation and assistance during his tenure as Mayor. He said this is the last day he will meet them as Male City Mayor.
