A 31-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a car and motorcycle collision that occurred in GDh. Thinadhoo on 27 May.
The incident took place near the former Friday mosque on the island. The woman, who was on the motorcycle at the time of the accident, suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital.
According to police, the woman underwent brain surgery later in Male' but later developed an infection, which led to a deterioration in her condition while she remained in the ICU.
Her funeral is scheduled to be held Thursday night at the Machchangoalhi Cemetery after Isha prayers.
