MTCC, RDC deny projects halt amid transition
Companies are stopping projects in some islands and unloading machinery from the islands, President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu's office has said.
None of the ongoing projects have been suspended and all projects are progressing smoothly, MTCC and RDC, which are among the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) that carry out the largest number of projects in the islands, said.
Companies are stopping projects in some islands and unloading machinery from the islands, President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu's office has said.
It is not being done at the behest of Muizzu or anyone on his behalf, his office said.
MTCC CEO Adam Azim said the company has not stopped any projects.
"Some works may be temporarily delayed. For example, there may be delays due to lack of supplies," he said.
"We have not been told by anyone to stop any project."
A spokesperson for the RDC told Atoll Times that all but one of the projects being implemented by the company in the islands are progressing smoothly.
"There is a project in Mamigili that has been stalled because the council is changing the scope," the official said.
"All other projects that have already been started are progressing smoothly. This is the initial phase and no new projects will be started."
