Islam, nationalism will be top priority, says Muizzu

President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu said on Tuesday that Maldives remains a 100% Islamic country and his government will give top priority to Islam and the nationality of the people.
In a statement issued on Tuesday on the occasion of the Islamization of Maldives, President-elect Muizzu said that the conversion of Maldives to Islam was the most positive historical event that brought about the most positive changes in Maldives. Islam is the true foundation our the freedom, noble customs, rich culture and unity of the people, he said.
“We have remained a 100 percent Muslim country in the long past, which is an example for the whole world,” he said.
The PPM-PNC government will be a government that gives top priority to Islam and the nationality of the people, Muizzu said.
"... A government that will uphold the sovereignty and pride of this country. A government that will maintain the beautiful discipline, relationship and customs of the people and raise the name and reputation of the people in the international arena," he said.
