Underage suspects in Zayan's murder charged

Some of those arrested in connection with the murder of Mohamed Zayan in Addu Feydhoo in June have been charged.
Nine people have been arrested in connection to the case, the Prosecutor General's (PG) Office said Sunday. These include:

Five people above the age of 18

Four children under the age of 18
The PG Office has filed charges against the children. According to the PG Office:

One of the children was charged with murder with the use of a sharp object under Article 5 (a) of the Prohibition of Intimidation and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects Act

The other three children were charged under the same law with aiding and abetting murder with a sharp object; two of them pleaded guilty and made diversion agreements for relief

Police are still investigating the cases of the five adult suspects, with the duration of the investigation now extended
Mohamed Zayan, 21, was killed by a gang in Feydhoo on 2 June, after a series of clashes between two gangs.
Those arrested for the murder include:

Members of Magudhoo Group in Addu

At the time of their arrest, individual police officers were also accused of accepting bribes from gangs operating in Addu

Some members of the public in Addu have attested to the allegations against the police operating in Addu
Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shameem has previously stated that an internal investigation has been launched into the allegations. However, it was not immediately known if the investigation had been completed.
In addition, a man was arrested on suspicion of interfering with the investigation early in the case.
