Solih appointed as interim president of MDP
The President did not attend the MDP congress in Ukulhas on Thursday evening when he was appointed to the post; he is abroad.

The vacant post of MDP President has been temporarily handed over to former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Solih was appointed as the acting president of the party at the ninth sitting of the fourth session of the Party's National Assembly held in A.A. Ukulhas.
The post of MDP President had become vacant after former President Mohammed Nasheed left the MDP to join The Democrats.
The President did not attend the MDP congress in Ukulhas on Thursday evening when he was appointed to the post; he is abroad.
In the September 30 presidential election, the MDP candidate Solih was defeated. The opposition PNC-PPM candidate won the election with 54.03% of the vote. Solih received 45.96% of the vote. That’s 86,161 votes for Solih and 101,635 for Muizzu.
