Fitr Zakat collections begin

Zakat House said that Zakat can be paid online from Monday until the 27th of Ramadan (April 6).

The Zakat House has started accepting Fitr Zakat from Monday and said that it can also be paid online.

This is the first year that Fitr Zakat is accepted under the supervision of the Zakat House. Zakat House was established last December.

Zakat House said that Zakat can be paid online from Monday until the 27th of Ramadan (April 6).

Zakat can be paid online via:

  • Dhiraagu application/Dhiraagu Pay and via SMS

  • Ooredoo M-Faisa and SMS

  • Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) Faisa Mobile and Faisa Net

  • Through the Bank of Maldives (BML) portal

  • Through the FahiPay application and website

  • Through the Bandeyri Pay portal of the Ministry of Finance

Zakat can be paid through Bandeyri Pay till the last day of Ramadan.

The elderly and those who are not familiar with paying online will be able to pay Zakat at the Islamic Affairs Ministry hall in Male. In the islands, this will be done through the island councils.

Fitr Zakat will be accepted in the amount of 2.4 kg of grain types specified by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Fitr Zakat grains and prices:

  • Ordinary rice - MVR 12

  • Thailand white rice - MVR 70

  • Red rice - MVR 80

  • Basmati rice (low quality) - MVR 70

  • Basmati rice (medium quality) - MVR 100

  • Basmati rice (best quality) - MVR 125

  • Ordinary flour - MVR 10

  • Wheat flour  - MVR 75
