A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to develop L.Kadhdhoo airport as an international airport.
The MoU was signed by Minister for Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muthalib and CMEC General Manager Li Kan at a meeting held in L.Fonadhoo, attended by President Mohammed Muizzu.
Details of the deal are yet to be released.
This upgrade of Kadhdhoo Airport is a presidential pledge of incumbent President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
CMEC is also the contractor of the Hiyaa flats established in Hulhumale Phase II during the government of former President Abdulla Yameen.
This government has also awarded several projects to the company within a short period of time.
