The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) will be able to complete the construction of flats in the second phase of Hulhumale with an additional MVR 454.5 million, the company's Managing Director Hamdhaan Shakeel said.

Hamdhaan shared the latest details of the project in an X post on Wednesday.

According to him:

  • The previous government had constructed a total of 216 floors in 22 months

  • 192 floors have been constructed in the past four months

  • The number of floors completed within a month has been increased from 10 to 48th

However, Hamdhaan said the entire project can be completed with more funds.

“The scope of the project decided by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government does not include key services and facilities including connection of the towers to the power grid, security systems, GPON network to enable internet and other media connection for the towers and tenants, waste disposal systems and landscaping work,” he said.

“An additional injection of MVR 454.5 million is required for the completion of this additional work left out by the previous government”.

Hamdhaan said the FDC is working with the government to “secure financing for this additional work”.

During the previous government, FDC started construction of 32 towers in Hulhumale Phase II, a total of 4,000 apartments. Thus:

  • 2,000 flats handed over to JMC and 2,000 flats to NBCC project

  • The towers will have 17 or 18 floors

  • The ground and first floor of each tower are reserved for commercial units

Hamdhaan has previously said that he is looking into ways to complete the project ahead of schedule.
