Work to install additional elevators in the second phase of the Hiyaa flats in Hulhumale has begun.
Housing Minister Ali Haider, Environment Minister Thorig Ibrahim and HDC Managing Director Fazul Rasheed inaugurated the installation of the elevators at a ceremony held at Hiyaa Tower 2 on Thursday.
Installing more elevators in the Hiyaa flats is a presidential pledge.
The Chinese funded Hiyaa project, which was launched during incumbent president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s tenure as Housing Minister, has 16 25-storey towers with three or four elevators per tower and a total of 54 elevators.

The elevator installation work has been awarded to China’s Shenyang Yuanda Intellectual Industry Group Co. Ltd.
