Govt promises a better facility for med students
The student association believes it will take a long time to attain a permanent solution to the problem.

The government has assured the medical students at Maldives National University (MNU) that it will provide them with a more complete facility despite being asked to leave the Dharumavantha Hospital, where they are now based, according to the student union on Saturday.
The medical school, which was moved to Dharumavantha Hospital five years ago, is to be moved to the main campus of the university. According to the MNU:

The medical school was established only temporarily at Dharumavantha Hospital

The decision was taken to move the medical school facilities to the main campus of MNU as the hospital is working to expand its services
Medical students are complaining though, saying that they were thrown out onto the street. In response to the complaints, the National University Student Union met with government officials onFriday.
The union issued a press release after the meeting, which was attended by senior government and IGMH officials.

“This involves the interests of thousands of students, and more than 200 medical students have renewed hope that they will be able to stay on the eighth and 14th floors of Dharumavantha Hospital until they find permanent shelter,” the union said in a press release.
The student association believes it will take a long time to attain a permanent solution to the problem. Therefore, the association requested to continue their studies in the same building as before.
