Maldives meteorological service has forecast more bad weather for the next three days as the southwest monsoon batters the island nation.

MET office has issued fresh alerts for central and eastern islands, forecasting the bad weather to continue for the next three days.

MET office also said some islands could face sea swells.

Disaster management authority has urged islands to take precautionary measures especially to prevent flooding due to heavy rains.

Coastguard meanwhile has strongly advised against any sea travel after sunset. 

A tree was uprooted in the capital Male due to strong winds in Male on Tuesday with a motorcyclist injured and several parked motorbikes damaged.

Authorities have also urged extreme caution when travelling during strong winds especially while crossing the Male-Hulhumale overwater bridge.
