Maldives hit with southwestern monsoon rains

Rain will be expected in the south and central parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Rains linked to the southwestern monsoon is back in the country.

The weather has been bad since the beginning of this week, with heavy rains in some parts of the country on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the meteorological service (MET), this is a monsoon rain. Rain will be expected in the south and central parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

The MET said:

  • The northern provinces will also be affected by the rain

  • South and central regions will experience winds between 8 and 18 mph; Winds will be 40 mph during storms

  • The heaviest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded in AA. Thoddoo

According to the MET, the current rainfall will continue for the next two days, and will worsen thereafter.
