Govt yields to slash fuel price for fishermen in Hulhumale

The diesel prices for fishermen have been reduced in Hulhumale.
The Fisheries Ministry said in an X post on Wednesday that the price of diesel sold to fishermen in Hulhumale has been reduced to the price sold in sheds to fulfil the promise in President Mohammed Muizzu's manifesto.
The fishermen that protested in Hulhumale Wednesday also voiced concerns against high fuel prices. The fishermen's protest ended in the wee hours of Thursday after the Fisheries Ministry announced that the price of fuel would be reduced.
The fishermen claim that a litre of diesel is sold at MVR 13.92 to the public but at a higher price of MVR 14.53 for them, that too after including subsidy.
Meanwhile, STO had already reduced fuel prices on Sunday. Changes are:

Petrol at 41 Laari cheaper per litre

With that:

Petrol, which was priced at MVR 15.14 per litre, is now selling at MVR 14.73

A litre of diesel, which was priced at MVR 15.07, is now selling at MVR 14.44
