Cable thief remanded in custody for 15 days

A man has been remanded in custody for cutting off an electricity cable from a State Electric Company (STELCO) substation in Majeediyya School area, in the capital city Male.
Police said in a statement on Sunday that the man was produced in court for a decision on his remand and ordered to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
The theft of electrical cables from the STELCO substation in the Majeediyya School area was reported at 6:12 am on Tuesday, following which a 32-year-old man was arrested.
