Council authority chief Zulfa removed; appointed state minister
A government official confirmed the change to Atoll Times on Sunday.
Dr Mariam Zulfa has been removed from the post of CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA) and appointed as a state minister for foreign affairs.
A government official confirmed the change to Atoll Times on Sunday.
The government has not yet officially announced the reason for the removal of Zulfa, who was appointed CEO of the LGO on December 26. However, a government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the change was taken because the LGA was not functioning as expected by the government.
"Zulfa is a very educated and capable person. However, having been abroad for a long time, she does not know how the system works. She has little relationship with the LGA and councils," the official said.
The post of LGA CEO is not a state ministerial level post.
