Mohamed Nimal has been appointed as the CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA) in the rank of a minister.
Nimal was appointed and handed over his certificate of appointment at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace Monday.
Local governance minister Adam Shareef welcomed Nimal’s appointment and said he looked forward to working together to strengthen efforts to strengthen decentralisation.
Nimal was appointed as the CEO of the LGA after the transfer of the previous CEO, Mariyam Zulfa, to the post of state minister of foreign affairs on Sunday.
Nimal was previously the president of the Kaafu Atoll Council. Nimal also represented the atoll councils in the LGA. He resigned as the president of the council when President Muizzu took the oath of office in November.
