Maldives top diplomat to attend OIC meeting on Gaza

Zameer will call on the international community to uphold the rule of law and reiterate Maldives’ steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.

Maldives foreign minister Moosa Zameer will lead the Maldives delegation at the Open-Ended Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) where he will condemn Israeli aggression in Palestine.

This meeting, held at the level of foreign ministers, will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.

In a statement, the foreign ministry said Zameer will address the gathering, condemning the ongoing acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. He will also denounce the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, chief of the political bureau of Hamas, in Iran, it added. 

Zameer will call on the international community to uphold the rule of law and reiterate Maldives’ steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.

The meeting will convene member states of the OIC to discuss the persistent crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and its actions against the sovereignty of Iran.
